Confession: Until this year, I'd only ever owned one set of bed sheets .
In high school, I slept on a futon under a single blanket. (I thought getting bunk beds on bed for sleeping, futon on the bottom for chilling with friends-would be Super Cool.) And it was Super Cool until I realized climbing up and down a metal ladder every day was way worse than sleeping on a lumpy futon.) In college, I (obviously) bought sheets for my bed. And I've just used those ever since.
Before you jump to very judgmental conclusions, it's worth mentioning that I've only been out of college for two-ish years. So continuing to use those same sheets is less appalling than it sounds. Don't get me wrong—it's definitely bad. Just not, like, horrifying.
Bed sheets are just one of those things you (or at least, I) never think about. I'll dreamily add cozy blankets to my online shopping carts or drool over throw pillows I've recently seen at Anthropologie, but sheets-well, who fantasizes about sheets?
Though we spend one-third of our lives in them—and though there is probably nothing else that touches our skin for such long periods of time with more regularity—sheets are a bottom-of-the-shopping-list item. They're an afterthought. It isn't until you've realized it's been six years since you've bought a new set that you start taking the need to buy some a little more seriously.
Here, 17 sets of bed sheet sets you can snag for $ 40 or less on Amazon (all sets are priced for queen beds). Plus, every single set in this shopping guide has a 4-star rating or higher after 500+ reviews, so you can rest assured knowing cozy as they look.
